Musician Biographies

Mick Moloney
A world renowned musician and folklorist, Mick’s name is synonymous with Irish music in America. He has produced over sixty albums, is the winner of a 1999 National Heritage Award and works very closely with the Mercy Centre, a charitable organization based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Athena Tergis
One of the most dynamic performers in Irish music today, Athena has performed in Riverdance, was a featured artist with Bill Whelan in IAC’s Masters in Collaboration Series in 2010 and is a Compass Records recording artist, both as a solo performer and with Green Fields of America.

 Rhys Jones 
Respected in the Appalachian, French-Canadian and Irish traditions, Rhys has performed throughout the United States and Europe. He has several albums to his credit and is a former winner of the prestigious fiddling contest at the Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, West Virginia.

Billy McComiskey
Born in Brooklyn and now based in Baltimore, Billy studied with the legendary box player Sean McGlynn, is a former All-Ireland Champion and has recorded with The Irish Tradition, Trian and The Pride of New York. He is a is a longtime member of Green Fields of America.

Liz Hanley
A Boston native and NYU graduate, Liz has toured the United States and Europe. She is a fixture in the New York session scene and is a featured vocalist with the Washington Square Harp and Shamrock Orchestra.

Brendan Dolan
Brendan is one of Irish music’s most highly regarded accompanists. He has performed with Andy Statman and Itzhak Perlman, teaches at festivals throughout the country, and is noted for his work with Green Fields of America and The Pride of New York.

Grace Nono 
A recording artist, author and cultural worker, Grace was born and raised in the Philippines and is an expert in her country’s traditional chant. A gifted vocalist, she has been a featured performer in concerts and festivals throughout Asia, Europe and the United States.

Niall O'Leary
Dublin native and former All-Ireland and World Champion Dancer, Niall founded the Niall O’Leary School of Irish Dance and has performed with several internationally renown musical acts including Green Fields of America, Natalie MacMaster and Cherish the Ladies.

Washington Square Harp and Shamrock Orchestra
Composed of musicians from the Irish music community, the WSHSO performs a charming repertory of traditional tunes and songs that recall, in style and in sound, the Irish-American dance bands of the early twentieth century.
